Five mine workers remained trapped under debris after a collapse at a mining operation in Soma, Manisa in western Turkey, the governor’s office said.
Seven workers were initially believed to have been trapped. Two were rescued alive, said the office.
Teams are continuing search and rescue operations to find the remaining miners, it added.
Authorities have not yet provided details on the name of the mining company, the cause of the collapse or the condition of the rescued workers. (NÖ/VK)
