The Foundation of Sports and Physical Activity for Women (KASFAD) from Başkent University Faculty of Health Sciences Department for Sports organized the Women and Sports Workshop on April 1, Friday at Başkent University Bağlıca Campus.
The workshop has been held in order to identify the problems women and girls were experiencing in different sports fields (performance sports, recreative sports, physical education, sports management) on different levels (sportswoman, exercise participants, managers, trainers, referee, learner) and to discuss about solutions.
The three inspiring women
The workshop has started with a panel about the stories of the three inspiring sportswomen. After the physical education teacher and triatlon Vesile Yılmaz Anatça has told her own story of teaching and being a sportswoman, the founder of “Girls on the field” has told about the history and exciting aspects of the structure.
The last speaker of the panel, Nesrin Olgun Aslan, the first sportswoman in Turkey who has swum across the English Channel has shared the tough periods and her emotions at that period with the audience.

Woman and Sports Workshop Report aims at being an important guide for developing policies to ensure the safe and equal access to all fields of sports for women and girls. (PÖ/MŞK/ÇT/DG)
