President of Syria Bashar al-Assad has met Falah al-Fayyad, the National Security Adviser of Iraqi government. Al-Fayyad brought a letter to Assad from Prime Minister of Iraq Adil Abdul-Mahdi.
As reported by Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Assad has defined Turkey's operation into northern Syria as "openly an invasion" and emphasized that Syria "will respond to it and confront it, in all forms, anywhere in Syria, using all legitimate means at the country's disposal."
Indicating that "outside ambitions for the region have not stopped throughout history", Assad has said, "Turkish aggression led by Erdoğan towards our country is openly a violation and invasion despite all its fake slogans".
Turkey's operation defined as 'invasion'
"Responding to this invasion by hitting (Erdoğan regime's) proxies and terrorists, Syria will respond to it and confront it, in all forms, anywhere in Syria, using all legitimate means at its disposal", Assas has said.
Referring to the letter of Iraqi Prime Minister, the SANA has reported that the letter aims to improve the bilateral relations between the countries, to improve and expand the scope of existing coordination in counterterrorism and border security in the light of latest developments, to promote economic cooperation and to open borders between Syria and Iraq.
