Diyarbakır, one of the cities affected by the Maraş earthquakes spent the night out in fear of a third earthquake.
The 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes centered in Maraş caused vast destruction in 10 provinces. Diyarbakır is among them. People in Diyarbakır spent the night in tents, mosques, schools, wedding halls, in the streets, or in their cars in fear of a third earthquake.
Tents were set up in Nevruz Park, Anıtpark, Koşuyolu Park, and the city center for the people whose houses were damaged in the earthquake. People also spent the night without any tents in the parks or on the streets setting up fires and under blankets.
Süleyman Aslan staying in a tent in Koşuyolu Park told that 25 people were staying in one tent since there were not enough tents.
Naime Acar told bianet that she had also experienced the Elazığ earthquake in the past but it was not as bad as this one. "This earthquake has killed us," she said.
Only bakeries were open at night and people had difficulty finding food.
Rescue efforts continued in the seven buildings that collapsed totally. The city was very silent and very worried last night.
