After dismissing at least eight journalists yesterday (October 30), the daily Hürriyet has terminated the contracts of several more.
The human resources department of the newspaper has reportedly notified over a dozen journalists that they have been dismissed.

Amid firings, columnists Gülse Birsel and Naim Dilmener have announced on Twitter that they resigned from the newspaper.
"Here, I announce that I decided to resign from the Hürriyet newspaper. Apologies to the readers, I hope to meet you in different articles in the future," Birsel said.
The journalists who have reportedly been dismissed so far: Çınar Oskay, Sebati Karakurt, İpek Özbey, İpek Yezdani, Serkan Ocak, Aydin Durgun, Şebnem Turhan, Arda Akın, Emre Özpeynirci, Ceyhun Kuburlu, Ahmet Can Şit, Ece Emre, Deniz Türsen, Deniz Dallı, Levent Korkut, Aykan Kara, Hüseyin Kızılay.
Hürriyet, a major newspaper in the country, has been owned by the pro-government Demirören Group since March 2018. (AS/VK)
