The fire that broke out in the toppled containers has not yet been put out and it continues.
Two major earthquakes hit Türkiye yesterday (February 6), one only 10 hours the first one very early in the morning.
The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes centered in Pazarcık and Elbistan in Maraş province caused destruction in 10 provinces.
Many containers in the İskenderun International Port toppled in the earthquake. A fire broke out in the containers in the following hours which continued throughout the night. The reason why the fire broke out is not yet identified.
The smoke from the fire can be seen from many points of İskenderun.
Firefighting crews are trying to put the fire out and the coast guard boat TCSG Yaşam is supporting the efforts. (AÖ/PE)
