Fire broke out at the building of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) situated in Fındıklı, İstanbul.
The fire was taken under control and put out by Beşiktaş and Fatih fire squads.
Cause of the fire couldn’t be determined yet.
What happened?
On June 21, the allegation that MSGSÜ State Conservatory would be moved as Prime Ministry Office in Dolmabahçe would be expanded came to public agenda.
A notice was sent to Beşiktaş sub-Governorship that in case the building is not evacuated until June 26 (today), electricity and water would be cut and the evacuation would be carried out in company with police.
However, the school administration, its students and graduates objected to the decision and it was decided that the senate hold a meeting at the school today.
On June 23, Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Presidency of Press, Publication and Public Relations announced that the decision was suspended as “the university hasn’t completed the exam period and the new place to be moved hasn’t been fixed yet“. The meeting of administration and students was cancelled by this justification. (TP/TK)
