The İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) has unveiled the program for the 22nd edition of Filmekimi, an autumn film festival. This year, Filmekimi will bring award-winning films that have had their world premieres at international festivals from Cannes to Venice, Locarno to Toronto, to audiences in İstanbul from October 13 to 22 and in İzmir from October 20 to 22.
Tickets will go on sale on October 7 at 10:30 am.
Visually impaired festivalgoers will have the opportunity to enjoy seven films at Filmekimi this year with audio description.
Filmekimi films will be screened in Beyoğlu at Atlas 1948 Cinema, in Şişli at City's Nişantaşı – CINEWAM Premium, and in Kadıköy at Kadıköy Cinema and Sinematek/Sinema Evi. In İzmir, the screenings will take place at Paribu Cineverse Konak Pier Izmir.
Sofia Coppola returns to the spotlight with "Priscilla," the opening film of the festival, featuring iconic characters portrayed by Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi. The film delves into the tumultuous relationship between Beaulieu and Elvis Presley.
Yorgos Lanthimos, the winner of the Golden Lion, returns to Filmekimi five years after "The Lobster" with another period piece. Emma Stone takes on the role of Bella Baxter, who is revived from the dead in the Victorian era, in "Poor Things." The film, directed by Tony McNamara, is adapted from Alasdair Gray's 1992 novel and boasts a star-studded cast including Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley.
This "Hitchcockian courtroom drama," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, examines the relationship of a couple while unraveling a murder trial. The screenplay was co-written by director Justine Triet, who previously collaborated on "Victoria" and "Sibyl," and her husband Arthur Harari.
