Turkey's Film Critics Association (SİYAD) has named the best foreign film of 2021: "The Father"
While "The Father" has been selected by the SİYAD members among the foreign films that came to the big screen in Turkey last year, the prize will be granted to "Bir Film", the importer of "The Father", in the 54rd SİYAD Award Granting Ceremony planned to be held in March 2022.

About The Father
It is a 2020 drama film co-written and directed by Florian Zeller, in his directorial debut; he co-wrote it with playwright Christopher Hampton based on Zeller's 2012 play Le Père. The film stars Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell and Olivia Williams and follows an aging man who must deal with his progressing dementia.
The man refuses all assistance from his daughter as he ages. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2020. At the 93rd Academy Awards, Hopkins won Best Actor and Zeller and Hampton won Best Adapted Screenplay; the film received six nominations in total, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress. (AÖ/SD)
