A minibus carrying refugees rolled over into a ditch in the southeastern province of Van. Fifteen people were killed and 28 were injured according to initial reports.
The accident happened at around 12 p.m. in the vicinity of Özalp district, some 65 kilometers to the city center. After the driver lost control of the minibus, it rolled over and fell into a 35-meter deep ditch.
Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) and National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) and firefighter units have been dispatched to the area.
While the wounded refugees have been sent to hospitals, efforts to determine the nationalities and identities of the killed people have begun.
The Governorship of Van said in a statement that the cause of the accident has not yet been determined. (AÖ/VK)
