Queer feminists have released a statement inviting feminists to organize the trans+ cortege to join the "Great Women's Meeting" on March 6.
While the "Great Women's Meeting" will be held in İstanbul ahead of March 8 International Women's Day, there will be a meeting at Mor Mekan (Purple Place) in Kadıköy district on March 3 at 7 pm to discuss the preparations for the cortege. Titled "Feminist queers meet", the statement reads:
"Feminists are on the streets every March 8. We are among these feminists as well. We will also be on the streets this year.
"In fact, we think that going to the Great Women's Meeting as a cortege this year is very important for visibility.
"Recalling the experience of trans+ cortege last year, we would like to turn this experience into something continuous and a tradition. We call on all anti-transphobia feminists who hear our call to organize this cortege to increase our visibility, solidarize and get strength from one another."
Organized by the İstanbul March 8 Women's Platform, "The Great Women's Meeting" will be held in Kadıköy Rıhtım on March 6 at 1.30 pm. (EMK/SD)
