Mütha Çetin, a female journalist from Dicle News Agency, has been detained last night by the police as she took photos of another woman who was allegedly being attacked by a traffic police officer. Released the same night, Çetin filed a complaint.
She told bianet that she came across a traffic police officer and a driver arguing in Şişli - Elmadağ road, claiming that the traffic police officer used force against a foreign woman who remained in the car. She claimed that she was attacked by the police officer as she tried to snap a photo with her cell phone. Detained briefly, Çetin has been released after her testimony.
She also received an assault report and filed a complaint against the traffic police officer. She added that the traffic police officer made the same complaint against her. Along with the foreign woman who was attacked by the police officer, Çetin will file a complaint through her attorney. (EA/BM)
