Fadime Ayvalıtaş, the mother of deceased Gezi Resistance protestor Mehmet Ayvalıtaş, died from heart failure in an Istanbul hospital.
On the night of June 2, her son Mehmet Ayvalıtaş was hit dead by a car during a road blocking protest.
“Even though the hospital has yet to make an official statement on the cause of death, I know that Fadime Ayvalıtaş was experiencing under extreme stress after the loss of her son,” advocate Ayla Öztabak told bianet.
“It was after the latest trial of Ethem Sarısülük case where she wasn’t feeling very well and hospitalized,” she continued.
She also added that they were waiting for lab results as Ayvalıtaş died. The grief of Ayvalıtaş Family is unexplainable, she said.
“Kill mothers first, so they won’t cry for their dead sons”
On November 20, Fadime Ayvalıtaş made Çapul TV the following:
“As mothers of deceased Gezi Resistance protestors, we can’t do anything else but cry when we come together. Every mother talks about their son. Every mother talks about the good memories of their beloved son,” she said.
“Our grief has yet to calm down. But they [authorities] are still trying to open our wounds. PM could call and say condolences or at least wish for patience.
“They are only wishing that mothers won’t cry. And I am saying that [they must] kill mothers first, so they won’t cry for their dead sons.” (EKN/BM)
