An explosion has occurred in the open parking area in front of Adana Governorship.
Making the first statement on his Twitter account, Minister of Europe Ömer Çelik stated that he met Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtaş and there are wounded people.
Issuing a statement following Çelik, the Governor Demirtaş said “Two citizens have been killed, 16 others wounded in the explosion”.
The explosion occurred at around 8:05 a.m. in the open parking area in front of Adana Governorship located on Mehmet Nuri Sabuncu boulevard in Döşeme neighborhood in Seyhan district.
Minister of Labor Mehmet Müezzinoğlu declared that 21 people were wounded, five of whom were in grave condition.
A bomb-laden vehicle was detonated, Doğan News Agency (DHA) reported.
Adana Mayor: There was an Energy Summit opening
Speaking to CNN Türk, Adana Mayor Hüseyin Sözlü said “There was an Energy Summit opening at 9 a.m. in Adana today (November 24)”.
As vehicles in the parking area started to burst into flames with the explosion, those who were parking or being there at that time were injured., and windows of close-by buildings including the governorship building were broken.
Gag order
A temporary gag order has been issued by the Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTÜK) as to the explosion in Adana, the Prime Ministry announced. (AS/TK)
