In Dağlıca district of Hakkari province, in eastern Turkey, a land mine exploded while two armored vehicles were passing.
After the explosion, an armed conflict broke out between military and PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) members.
It was claimed that more than 10 soldiers died and many got wounded during the explosion and conflicts.
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK):
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) made an explanation at 2 a.m. and stated that two armored vehicles were damaged since hand-made explosives on the road in Dağlıca district were blasted and left many died and wounded. TSK stated a day after the incident that 16 soldiers died in Dağlıca district.
However, TSK didn't specify the time of the incident. According to the newspapers, the explosion occurred at 3 p.m. on September 6.
Peoples’ Defense Forces (HPG):
According to the news of Fırat News Agency, Press Connection Center of Peoples’ Defense Forces (HPG) said 15 soldiers were killed and many weapons were captured.
HDP Leader Selahattin Demirtaş:
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Leader Selahattin Demirtaş offered condolences for the ones who lost their lives in Dağlıca district and repeated his calling for peace:
"No matter how hard the conditions are, each way except the insistence on peace and fellowship moves us away from humanity.”
CHP Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu:
Republican People’s Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made an explanation over the attack in Dağlıca via his twitter account:
“Our hearts burnt in Dağlıca. Every day, there is the same pain. I curse the ones who made us suffer and feed on our tears!” (EKN/NV/BD)
