Ünal Aldemir, who wrote the expert report at Cumhuriyet case, has insulted Cumhuriyet newspaper and its former reporter Ahmet Şık on Twitter.
Ünal Aldemir, who was appointed as an expert to the case of Cumhuriyet newspaper by the prosecutor of the case Murat İnam, posted the following messages on Twitter:
"I want you to know that every piece of money given to the Cumhuriyet newspaper goes to the HDPKK-supporter* executives of the newspaper.
"Ahmet Şık is a terrorist. Who is holding your leash, you discredited HDPKK supporter?"
Ünal Aldemir also shared a picture of the President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and wrote,
"The Allah Almighty shall take years from the lives of us youngsters and give them to you. You shall be given these years so that the powerful countries of the world will see the world-leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has won the hearts of the nation.
"You are a world leader who has won the prayers of the oppressed in every corner of the world and the prayers of everyone from the age of 7 to seveny; you will walk and the nation will walk behind you."
Akın Atalay: "Our impartial and qualified expert"
Akın Atalay, the Chairperson of the Executive Board of Cumhuriyet newspaper, criticized Ünal Aldemir on his Twitter account.
Referring to the Article No. 64 of the Law on Criminal Procedure, which stipulates that the people appointed as experts to the court cases shall fulfil their duties in an impartial manner, Atalay wrote,
"I am introducing the social media posts of our impartial (!) and qualified (!) expert, who wrote the expert report that paved the way for the court case, where the executives and columnists of Cumhuriyet newspaper are tried."
From Ahmet Şık to Ünal Aldemir: "Presumptuous"
The former reporter of Cumhuriyet newspaper and the İstanbul MP candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Ahmet Şık also responded to the insults of Ünal Aldemir on Twitter. Şık wrote:
"That the members of the judiciary who have bent their knees in obedience or their owners holding their reins called the presumptuous Ünal Aldemir as 'expert' does not change the fact that he is one of the criminals of this period and will be put on trial together with others." (EKN/SD)
* HDPKK is an amalgamation of the abbreviations of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
