In effect for 1,177 days since November 21, 2016, the ban on all demonstrations, marches and press statements has has been extended for another 15 days in Turkey's eastern province of Van.
Releasing a statement on its official website on February 7, the Governorship of Van has announced that all events and demonstrations have been be banned in the province for 15 days from February 8 to 22.

In the statement released by the Governorship, it has been indicated that all protest marches, open-air meetings, press statements, sit-in protests, conducting surveys, setting up/opening tents and stands, petitions, distribution of leaflets, notices and flyers have been banned within the geographical boundaries of Van for 15 days as of February 8 to February 22.
The Governorship has also indicated that the ban in question has been imposed "with the aim of eliminating all actions and plans of attack considered to directly and openly meet the conditions of restriction and ban foreseen by the Constitution and laws, ensuring the safety of life and property of people, eliminating the plans of terrorist organizations, maintaining national security, protecting public order and security, preventing the committal of crimes, protecting fundamental rights and freedoms as well as the fundamental rights and freedoms of others and public peace and preventing the spread of incidents of violence."
