First reactions have come from Turkey following Britain’s decision to quit the European Union.
Vice Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli in his statement on his Twitter account posted, “Disintegration process of the European Union has started. England became the first to desert the ship”.
Vice Prime Minister in Charge of Economy, Mehmet Şimşek in his tweet in English said “You don’t want to open Pandora’s box…oh but it already has…”
Minister of the EU, Ömer Çelik expressing that Turkey is a European country, a European force said not being member of the EU doesn’t change it.
The EU shouldn’t have limitations of religion and geography in expansion, it has to integrate with the Anatolia and that Turkey must be full member of the EU, said Çelik.
“It is not good that England has left [the EU] but we respect their will”.
Brexit
The voters have decided that Britain leave the European Union in the referendum (Brexit) held yesterday (June 23).
According to the counting so far, 33 million voters went to poll in 382 election areas.
Rate of participation in the referendum has been announced as 72.2%. According to the announced outcome, the rate of favoring England leave the EU is 51.9 whereas the pro-EU voters remain at 48.1 (NV/TK)
