Science Education Esthetic Culture Art Researches Foundation (BEKSAV) will launch an activity called “Ergenekon Valley” at the Tobacco Depot in Tophane/Istanbul tomorrow (August 16). It will last for two days.
In the information given about the exhibition that uses photograph, dance, theatre, installation and illustration techniques, the mass killings, the pogroms such as 6-7 September, murders of the intellectuals from Sabahattin Ali to Hrant Dink, counter-guerilla activities from Secret Organization of the late Ottoman period to Şemdinli and Ergenekon incidents, street lynches, village burnings, bombed newspaper offices and destroyed lives will be the subject matter.
About the activity series that the BEKSAV Movie Workshop and the Theatre İmge have assumed the responsibility of organizing, Nurten Baydemir from BEKSAV's Board of Directors says, “We have felt the need for such an activity at a time when counter-guerilla murders are being discussed. We want the visitors to trail organizations such as Ergenekon by taking them through a labyrinth.”
“For a while we had thought of a tunnel. The visitor would see in one of the rooms of this tunnel Deniz and Mahir (leftist activists killed in the 70’s, resorting to guerilla tactics at times) and in another room the Maraş, Sİvas massacres. In one area he/she would see the prison incidents and tortures and in another area the 6-7 September pogrom, Hrant Dink murder, the missings, the Saturday mothers. This way the visitors would have entered the graves of many intellectuals from Mustafa Suphi to Musa Anter.
The activity will be open to visitors between 12:00 and 22:00. It will be at the Tobacco Depot at Lüleci Hendek St. No: 12 Tophane. (SÇ/EZÖ/TB)
