Erdoğan stating National Security Council (MGK) and Council of Ministers meetings will be held on Wednesday, said that he will announce an important decision after these meetings.
Erdoğan noting they will build Topçu Military Barracks in the Gezi Park in Taksim district of İstanbul whether it is wanted or not, said that they will build Taksim Mosque and pedestrianize Taksim totally.
Erdoğan spoke as follows:
“There will be more martyrs”
“We have seen our martyrs, right? So we have 208 martyrs. We all have inhumed them but you shall know that it is not the final circle.
“There will be a continuation to it. What had we said? We have put on our shrouds”.
“I will approve capital punishment”
“The Prime Minister [Binali Yıldırım] said, I say too. Turkey is a democratic law state. You cannot neglect people in a democratic law state.
“Thus, you cannot put people’s demands aside. [About the capital punishment] If peoples have such a demand, it is parliament where to discuss this issue.
“Only the EU doesn’t have capital punishment”
“Is there capital punishment in the US, Russia, China? Is there capital punishment in various places of the world? Only the EU doesn’t have the capital punishment. We signed it, that is true.
“But these signatures can be taken back as long as our parliament takes this resolution”.
“We will announce an important decision on Wednesday”
“The works at the moment are proceeding nicely. Our government now is in a very important preparation and if god permits we will convene the National Security Council on Wednesday.
“We will hold a Council of Ministers meeting after the National Security Council and following the National Security Council, we will announce an important decision. I will not announce it here and now”.
“We will build military barrack, opera house, mosque in Taksim”
“The barracks in Taksim will if god permits built on time whether they like it or not. We will establish a history museum, city museum in there.
“We will also if god permits build the first opera house of Turkey in the place of Atatürk Culture Center.
“The project is ready; we will build Taksim Mosque behind the historical walls in Taksim.
“We will pedestrianize whole Taksim. We will move the whole traffic to underground. Taksim will become an important attraction center.
“In a few years, Taksim Square won’t be this strange, it will become more prosperous, more beautiful, more different”. (EKN/TK)
