Here are some headlines from Erdoğan's statement:
“We learned later that it was a Russian plane”
“Two planes of unknown nation were warned 10 times in five minutes over border violation. However, one of them insisted in violation while the other returned.
“It is learned later that the downed plane belongs to Russia.
“It is said they were there to fight against DAİŞ (ISIS-Islamice State of Iraq and Syria). DAİŞ terror organization is not present there. We have been giving necessary warnings for such a thing to not take place. We had expressed our sensitivity to our neighbor via various channels.
“We’ve always maintained pro-peace stance. No one shall expect us to remain silent against violation of our border security.
“We have no intention to escalate the tension. We only defend our own security and rights of our brothers and sisters”.
Rules of engagement
Erdoğan had spoken yesterday on November 24 too regarding the matter at the reception held over Teachers’ Day.
“Russian plane was shot down within the frame of rules of engagement. This incident occurred entirely within the engagement rules that Turkey has announced earlier.
“Turkey being hostile towards its neighbors or any other country is out of question”.
“They hit Bayırbucak Turkmens under cover of hitting DAİŞ”
“We strongly condemn the attacks intensified on the region where Bayırbucak Turkmens live. Our cognates are being constantly bombed by planes, tanks, and artilleries.
“They hit Bayırbucak Turkmens under cover of hitting DAİŞ. They are in effort to protect their land”.
“So what if there were weapons in the trucks?"
“You know the betrayal about MİT (National Intelligence Agency) trucks, right? Those were the trucks that were carrying aid to Bayırbucak Turkmens.
“Some say ‘Prime Minister Erdoğan was saying there were no weapons in them’. So what if there were weapons in the trucks?” (EKN/TK)
