Turkey captured the wife of late ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today (November 6).
"I am announcing for the first time, we captured the wife of Baghdadi as well," Erdogan told a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the foundation of Ankara University's theology faculty in the capital Ankara.
"A communication campaign began after Baghdadi annihilated himself. We also captured his wife, sister and brother-in-law but didn't make a fuss," the President said, referring to a US military operation on October 27 in Syria's Idlib, which lead the ISIS leader to detonate his suicide west.
Erdogan described a "terrorist" as a person who sheds the blood of innocent people without blinking eyes for own perverted goal.
Turkey on Tuesday also announced the arrest of al-Baghdadi's sister.
"The arrest of al-Baghdadi's sister is yet another example of the success of our counter-terrorism operations," said Fahrettin Altun, Turkey's communications director, on Twitter.
Erdoğan's speech was mostly on the religious vocational high schools, urging the "religious youth" to know that "alcohol is forbidden." (AS/VK)
