President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken about US Pastor Andrew Craig Brunson, who is kept in house arrest, and US’ statements.
Stating that responses concerning US’ sanction threats were given in National Security Council statement, Erdoğan said:
“We’ve said everything in the statement already. Approaching us with such threatening expressions won’t benefit anyone.
“We’ve put forward the best solidarity with the US in NATO so far. We were together with them in Kora, we’ve struggled together with them many times. Using such a threatening language against Turkey, which still puts forward the highest level of solidarity in NATO is not appropriate
"It's not possible for us to accept such threatening language of zionist mindset in the US" .
Pence reiterated “sanction”
In a statement made on July 30, US Vice President Mike Pence said, “We are ready to impose sanctions on Turkey until Pastor Andrew Brunson is freed”.
“We took transfer of Brunson to house arrest with joy. I spoke with both Brunson and his wife. Brunson wants to return home. Brunson should be freed and allowed to return to his home in the US”.
Trump also mentioned “sanctions”
Concerning the detainment of Pastor Brunson, US President Donald Trump declared that sanctions will be imposed on Turkey.
The US President wrote on Twitter:
The United States will impose large sanctions on Turkey for their long time detainment of Pastor Andrew Brunson, a great Christian, family man and wonderful human being. He is suffering greatly.
“This innocent man of faith should be released immediately!” (PT/TK)
