Ahead of his visit to Greece, President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken to the crowd that gathered at Esenboğa Airport in capital Ankara.
President Erdoğan denounced President of the United States Donald Trump who “decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel and move the embassy from Tal Aviv to Jerusalem”.
“The US President made his statement concerning Jerusalem. The US President has disregarded the United Nations’ resolution in 1980. Until today, no other countries than these two countries resisted in contravening the UN resolutions.
“It is not possible to understand to who Trump tries to make up.
“Taking such a step is throwing the world into a circle of fire. Trump, what is your intention? What kind of approach is this? Political leaders are supposed to maintain peace, not to stir up trouble.
“If Mr. Trump thinks that ‘I am strong, therefore I am right’, he is mistaken. Being strong doesn’t mean being right. The one who is right is strong and we are right here”. (AS/TK)
