As a guest on channel TRT 1, the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, threatened Chief Editor of Cumhuriyet Daily Newspaper, Can Dündar explicitly related to the news of Trucks belonging to MİT (National Intelligence Organization) and conveying ammo to Syria published on daily.
Erdoğan filed a complaint against Cumhuriyet daily which published the photos of the aforementioned trucks and ammo inside them:
“This is espionage and the journalist made the news will pay a heavy price for it.”
The President stated he filed a lawsuit against Can Dündar.

Dündar responded to the President via his twitter account and shared the video link of Eroğan’s threats with Eroğan’s statements “He will pay a heavy price for it. He can’t get away with it.”

Erdoğan defended MİT Trucks were carrying aid to Bayırbucak Turkmens in Syria, “Cumhuriyet Daily is a part of espionage with parallel structure. Where did you take that amount of ammo? I filed a lawsuit. If they are really honest, they will explain the truth. The journalist who made the news will pay a heavy price for it. He can’t get away with it.”
Investiation for espionage
Bureau of Terror and Organized Crimes of Public Prosecutor of İstanbul launched an investigation against Can Dündar with allegation of espionage.
Who is Can Dündar?
Can Dündar was born in 1961, Ankara. He is a journalist, writer and documentarian.
He studied journalism at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science and graduated. He continued his education in London School of Journalism. Can Dündar received his master's and earned his Ph.D. in political science from Middle East Technical University, Ankara. He has worked in many newspapers and televisions. He’s published a lot of books and documentaries.
Dündar has been writing for Cumhuriyet Daily Newspaper since October 25, 2013. He’s been chief editor of newspaper since February 2015. Can Dündar had been put on trial twice upon Erdoğan’s complaint due to Dündar’s columns related to bribery and corruption operation. (EÖ/BD)
