President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his speech at Turkish Red Cross Ordinary General Assembly has spoken as to ongoing military operations, his visit to the US, and freedom of the press and expression.
Erdoğan alleging the one defaming US President Barack Obama has been sentenced to 3 years of prison, and the one defaming German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been sentenced to 2 years of prison, stated that Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deceived them.
Erdoğan briefly spoke as follows:
US visit
“We held several talks in our visit in the US because of the Nuclear Summit.
“We went there to represent our country at a very important meeting. Some circles here on the other hand have exerted all their strength for each step we took there to fail.
“After seeing the things done and told, I said ‘May god protect our nation from these’”.
Freedom of the press
“Crimes such as insult, threat, promoting terror committed via press or Internet are not considered freedom of thought and expression in Europe. Such crimes are thought as gross cases in all over the world.
“For instance a member of terror organization who shot soldier, burned, vandalized but supposedly having a card of a magazine during these actions. It is not yellow press card, but identity card. When caught, he/she claims to be a journalist, but you are not getting caught over journalism but acting on behalf of terror organization.
“Even if someone is a real journalist, what is in question here are crimes like espionage which has solid definition. It is jurisdiction to assess it”.
Crime of insult
“The one defaming US President Barack Obama has been sentenced to 3 years of prison, and the one defaming German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been sentenced to 2 years of prison.
“Those who try to lecture us about democracy shall see their own disgraces. We see who has the right to talk about human rights and who doesn’t”.
“Last terrorist…”
“We will continue our fight until the last terrorist is destroyed. We don’t have the slightest hesitation about that.
“We said ‘peace process’, they cheated and deceived us. We will finish this job now.
“The ones representing the terror organization sometimes mention resolution, negotiation, meeting. There is no subject to resolve nor discuss. It shall be known like that.
“There are two paths before them; they will either surrender and comply with the decision the justice will make about them, or they will be neutralized one by one in the holes they have been cornered. They have no other solution”. (EKN/TK)
