As to the recommendation given at National Security Council about extending the State of Emergency (OHAL), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said “Our government will make the necessary evaluations and take necessary steps. Extending the OHAL for three months will be for the benefit of Turkey”.
Speaking to the village chiefs for the 27th time at the Beştepe, Erdoğan referred to France about the OHAL:
“A 1-year OHAL was put into effect in France. Does anyone tell France ‘Why did you declare an OHAL for one year?’
“Some of our ministers says ‘Shall we end it already’. I say, ‘Why shall we. Be a bit patient, maybe even 12 months won’t be enough”.
July 15
“July 15 is recommended as ‘Remembrance Day of Democracy and Liberties’ by the National Security Council to the government and every July 15 will be celebrated as the day to mark our martyrs and veterans”.
Moody’s
Touching upon the Moody’s downgrading Turkey’s rating by one notch, Erdoğan criticized Moody’s for “being ignorant of Turkey’s realities” and claimed that “Moody’s can be bought off and this is how it operates”. (YY/TK)
