With a Presidential decision published in the Official Gazette today (June 2), new faculties and vocational schools have been founded at some universities, while some schools and faculties have been closed at others. The names of some faculties have also been changed.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), the following faculties and schools have been established by the decision of President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan:
- Faculty of Pharmacy at Düzce University,
- Faculty of Law at Ege University,
- Faculty of Aeronautics and Space Sciences at Hasan Kalyoncu University,
- Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies at İstanbul University,
- Faculty of Applied Sciences and Faculty of Medical Sciences at İstanbul Arel University,
- Faculty of Medical Sciences and Faculty of Sports Sciences at İstanbul Ayvansaray University,
- Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Kahramanmaraş Istiklal University and School of Foreign Languages at İstanbul Kent University
The following schools and faculties have been closed:
- School of Medical Sciences at İstanbul Arel University,
- School of Applied Sciences at İstanbul Ayvansaray University,
- Faculty of Art and Design at Sinop University
Names of faculties changed
Affiliated with the Kapadokya University, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences' name has also been changed as the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences; the name of KTO Karatay University Faculty of Engineering has been changed as the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences; the name of Sinop University Faculty of Fine Arts has been changed into the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and the name of TED University Faculty of Architecture has been changed as the Faculty of Architecture and Design.
