Starting his speech with criticizing Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, “It is not that that the President and his acquaintances transferred money abroad”, referring to the Isle of Man documents.
“There is no information back this claim on the fake paper pieces. I’d have left the presidential office if he had proved his claim. Since there is no such transfer, I expect him to behave accordingly”.
“They aim to kill many birds with one stone”
Erdoğan briefly said:
“This [Kılıçdaroğlu] is going to make statements about [Reza] Zarrab trial. The case in the United States has nothing to do with law, justice or trade. It is aimed to kill many birds with one stone with this plot.
“This case has been designed inside the US administration. A process similar to the one in February 28* is taking place.
“Considering the content of the indictment, subject of the trial is to reveal the plan about evasion of US sanctions on Iran”.
“I call on the US: Don’t you still get it?”
“This is an international coup attempt. I call on the US: Don’t you still get the July 15 FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization) coup attempt? What are you trying to hide as all criminals of the FETÖ have been tried; their files are being sent to you and some of them fled to the US?
“We need to see the link between these and this trial”. (PT/TK)
* "28 February"; also called, "Post-modern coup" in Turkey refers to the decisions issued by the Turkish military leadership on a National Security Council meeting on 28 February 1997. This memorandum initiated the process that precipitated the resignation of Islamist prime minister Necmettin Erbakan of the Welfare Party, and the end of his coalition government.
