Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Spokesperson Ebru Günay held her weekly press conference in Diyarbakır today (November 27).
Referring to the recent police raid on HDP Van Provincial Organization building, Günay condemned the incident where the police wrote "As-salaam alaikum*, we are here" on the white board during the raid.
"I am asking you from here, who are you," said Günay and added, "Are you burglars? Or bandits? Or robbers? What are you? It is what burglars, bandits, robbers do. In now way can we accept this method which has nothing to do with a state of law in any way at all. We call on the Ministers of Justice and Interior to fulfil their duty immediately."
Günay also referred to the recent developments in Turkey's domestic politics, especially the alliance between the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
"We are watching a bad series, which is a bad copy of the past, directed by the MHP and will come to a bad end," Günay said and briefly added:
"Look what has happened since the day they started talking about reform.
"Look at the lawsuit filed against Saturday Mothers, the raids on hundreds of people from the democratic community, especially the HDP, everyday, look at the detention of people as if it was a witch hunt!
"It was just yesterday when our Antalya MP Kemal Bülbül was given 6 years, 3 months in prison, with his legislative immunity trampled upon by court.
"Look at the grave crime committed against the right to engage in democratic politics as a concrete example of the politicization of the judiciary!
"Look at the regime of trustees [appointed to HDP municipalities] as a way of governing which is nothing other than corruption.
"Look at what happens to those who say the tiniest different thing within a party that constantly talks about nation, right and law.
"Look at how ministers and high advisory board members can hardly find themselves a place in only social media to resign.
"Look at the government which has abandoned the country at the whim of gangs and mafia! The junior partner of the government seems to take the reins. A party whose voting rate has dropped as low as six percent is trying to govern an entire country with threat and blackmail.
"Obsessed with governing every single person, the entire country with authoritarian methods, [President and AKP Chair] Erdoğan cannot manage even his own party, let alone the country." (DŞ/SD)
