Turkey's 13th President will be determined with the snap election to be held on June 24, 2018. If absolute majority is not constituted, then the second tour will be held on July 8, 2018.
The election developments that took place on May 24, Thursday are:
MHP: Erdoğan should not interfere in monetary politics
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Vice Chairperson Sefer Aycan stated that the monetary policies of the MHP and those of the government are different from each other. Aycan said,
"The US Dollar has been increasing in value in global markets, but we have also made mistakes. I am not saying this to criticize the Dear President [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan], but he interferes in the monetary policies. I think that it would be better if he did not interfere. One should not interfere in the monetary policies of the Central Bank."
CHP announced its election slogan
The main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) will use the slogan "We are coming for the nation" for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on June 24, 2018.
As a logo, the party will use the sentence of President Erdoğan "If the nation says 'Enough', then 'Enough'." The word "YES" will also be written under the emblem of the CHP.
Demirtaş: Do not tend towards foreign exchange
The imprisoned Presidential candidate and former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş made a statement on his official Twitter account via his attorneys.
Demirtaş said that "the most lasting solution is not to tend towards foreign exchange, but to be patient for another 30 days and vote for a democratic government at the ballot box". (HK/SD)
