An explosion took place in Diyarbakır, in the southeast of Türkiye at 5.10 a.m. today (December 16) when a shuttle bus carrying police officers was passing. Eight police officers and one civilian were slightly injured while the shuttle bus toppled.
The state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported that the explosion took place on the Diyarbakır-Mardin highway close to the Yeşil Vadi neighborhood near a livestock market while a shuttle bus of police officers was passing.
The injured people were taken to the hospital. Seven of them were later discharged.
The office of the Diyarbakır governor said a written statement that the incident was "a terror attack" and two suspects were taken into custody.
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu also said in a tweet that the bomb was planted in a parked car.
Diyarbakır Chief Prosecutor's office started an investigation following the blast. With three others detained in the scope of this investigation the number of people detained increased to five.
