Defeating the Italian Pomi Casalmaggiore with a score of 3-2 in the final match of 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship in Manila, Eczacıbaşı VitrA Women’s Volleyball Team has become the world champion for the second time in a row.
Eczacıbaşı was at the upper hand with a score of 25-19 at the first set of the match played in Manilda, the capital city of Philippines. Pomi Casalmaggiore won the second set with 25-22 followed by Eczacıbaşı’s victory in third set again with a score of 25-19. Although Pomi Casalmaggiore managed to even up the score again in the fourth set, Eczacıbaşı got ahead again in the last set.
That way Eczacıbaşı Women’s Volleyball Team won the World Championship once again and became the first team in the history of the FIVB Club World Championships to win the championship for two years in a row.
Earlier in 2010, Fenerbahçe Women’s Volleyball Team and in 2013, Vakıfbank Women’s Volleyball Team from Turkey had also won victories in the World Club Championship. (EKN/DG)
