Mahsum Mızrak (14) was shot to death in his head by gas cartridge fired in a police attack in Diyarbakır on March 28, 2006. Mızrak’s family complaint to the European Court of the Human Rights (ECtHR) was concluded today (October 18).
The court found Turkey guilty of “violating right to life” and “not carrying out effective investigation”.
Turkey will pay 69,000 euros to Mızrak family.
The gas cartridge was “missing” during the lawsuit brought against the three police officers who were involved in the killing of Mızrak and police radio records were disposed of.
8-year-old Enes Ata was shot to death by gas cartridge in the same police attack.
The lawsuit brought against the officers is yet to be concluded. (AS/TK)
