Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak has announced that Turkey has taken and will take economic measures against the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in a way that will not affect the markets' access to liquidity.
"A series of supports and measures comprising all sectors, especially the ones affected most negatively, will be implemented," Minister has noted.
Making a statement on his Twitter account regarding the economic measures to be taken in the country against the effects of coronavirus outbreak, Albayrak has stressed that the country has "prioritized being prepared for the effects of coronavirus outbreak on the economy."
Minister Albayrak has also stated that all institutions have analyzed the economic measures taken around the world against the virus as well as the related forecasts and outlooks, adding that they have also set their own courses in their own fields in the face of all possible scenarios.
'We are more prepared, cautious than ever'
Underlining that "while the problem is a global one, the struggle is national," Albayrak has also informed the public that "within this context, they have received the evaluations and requests of several non-governmental organizations and sector representatives regarding the process, especially from the the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM), Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK), Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) and Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD)."
"Our country is more prepared and cautious than ever before regarding possible global turbulence", Minister Albayrak has said and added, "The steps to be taken will be announced by our Mr. President this week. Our institutions will also take the necessary steps during the course of the week. The processes will be closely followed and new measures will be swiftly implemented when necessary."
