A German media outlet Deutsche Welle (DW) has sued the Turkey’s Ministry of Youth and Sport, which has seized records of Conflict Zone program.
The DW reported that they brought the suit demanding that the records of the interview made with Minister of Youth and Sport, Akif Çağatay Kılıç be returned to them.
Following the TV interview, which moderator of the program “Conflict Zone” broadcasted on the DW Michel Friedman made in Ankara on September 5, 2016, the video materials were seized upon instruction of the Minister Kılıç.
The Ministry had refused the accusations
The Ministry had announced that the allegations of seizing the records didn’t reflect the truth. The statement stated that they conveyed the request to the TV officials to not publish the interview in question since the moderator had used “expressions and claims that get out of line”.
International journalism institutions complained of the seizing of the records to the European Council. (UB/YY/TK)
