The students, alumni and academics of Boğaziçi are still protesting the appointment of Melih Bulu as a rector to the university as well as all other appointments following his appointment. The protest against the new administration's refusal to approve a course to be offered by academic and lawyer Feyzi Erçin is also ongoing at the South Campus in İstanbul.
A group of students came together to keep a watch at the campus by setting up tents yesterday (May 31); but, they were forced to leave the campus by the police and the university's private security guards.
In response to this, the students of the university went to the campus again today. However, the security guards prevented the students, alumni and some academics from entering the South Campus.

100th watch kept by the academics
Shortly after Bulu was appointed as a rector to the university by President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on January 2, 2021, the academics of Boğaziçi have been turning their backs against the Rector's Office at the South Campus, demanding the resignation of Melig Bulu as well as all other appointed officials.
While the protests have been taking place every weekday, today has marked the 100th watch kept by the academics.
Making a statement on this occasion, the academics have reiterated their demand: "We, once again, demand the resignation of appointed Melih Bulu, Gürkan Kumbaroğlu, Naci İnci, Fazıl Önder Sönmez; that of Selami Kuran, who was appointed to the Faculty of Law, which was established one night; and that of Muzaffer Eroğlu. We don't accept. We don't give up." (DŞ/SD)
