The Onmega Dolphin Therapy & Activity Center in Marmaris, Muğla, where five dolphins died one after another, has been closed permanently.
The center was closed following legal initiatives taken by the Platform for Freedom of Dolphins (YÖP) and the Animal Rights Observatory Committee (HAKİM).
The platforms that were unlawfully constructed and all structures built inside the sea were dismantled and removed after a court ruling against the facility.
YÖP and HAKİM underlined that no penalties were given to the owners of the facility during audits.
The animal rights organizations will be filing a criminal complaint about the ministry officials carrying out the audits and veterinary clinics for "malfeasance," stating that illegal acts have been revealed with evidence.
The two organizations had requested that the two remaining dolphins should go through a health examination and be taken under protection, but later learned that the two were secretly transferred to another dolphin show center in Antalya. (AÖ/PE)
