According to the DNA analysis performed by Forensic Medical Institution, the name of the suicide bomber who has carried out the bomb attack in Ankara on February 17 killing 28 persons is Abdülbaki Sömer.
Government Spokesperson Numan Kurtulmuş upon the recent disclosure has noted; “That the name is different doesn’t change the reality of the situation”.
Erdoğan had claimed: We have documents
Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) had claimed responsibility for the attack and announced the name of the suicide bomber as Abdülbaki Sönmez (Sömer) whereas Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had asserted that the attack had been carried out by Syrian Salih Necar, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had claimed that they had documents.
Following TAK claiming responsibility, a match has been confirmed with the DNA of Abdülbaki Sömer’s father Musa Sömer.
Kurtulmuş: Doesn’t change that he comes from the PYD region
Government Spokesperson Numan Kurtulmuş over confirming that the identity of the suicide bomber had been Abdülbaki Sömer as declared by TAK and falsifying contradicting the government announcing the identity as Salih Neccar; has noted; “That the name is different does not change the reality of the situation”.
Kurtuluş has commentated on the current contradictory situation that the name difference did not change the fact that the suicide bomber had entered from Mardin, a PYD region, and the issue of the name difference would fall under the scope of the Prosecution’s responsibilities and duties. “The prosecution will make the official statement. What is certain is that the person who blew up the bomb came from the PYD region. He has been hired in İzmir and delivered to İstanbul, Diyarbakır and Ankara”.
What had happened?
Six hours after the attack it had been reflected in the press on 12.30 a.m. that the fingerprints taken from the crime scene had confirmed that the suicide bomber was Salih Muhammed Neccar.
Following the attack, Prime Minister Davutoğlu has declared that the attack had been carried out by Salih Neccar born in 1992 in Amuda area of the Haseke region in Syria.

On the same day, KCK (Group of Communities in Kurdistan) Executive Council Co-Chair Bayık has stated on Ankara attack; “We don’t know who has carried it out. But we know from earlier that there have been such practices of retaliation for the massacres in Kurdistan”.

PYD Co-Chair Salih Müslim on the same day had noted that they were in no way related to the attack in Ankara killing 28 persons and has denied Davutoğlu’s statement.

Erdoğan as to PYD’s statement that they are in no way related to the attack in Ankara has said, “It has come to light through information and documents obtained by all of our intelligence organizations that they are responsible for the attack”.

Yet two days after the attack on February 19, Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) had claimed responsibility for the attack and has declared that the attack had been carried out by Abdülbaki Sönmez (Sömer) codenamed Zınar Raperin. Following the statement, DNA samples have been taken from Sömer’s father confirming a match. (AS/DG)
