Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions (DİSK) Council of Ministers has expressed that they are working for May 1 to be celebrated everywhere especially at Taksim, and the course of action will be determined with the Confederation of Public Employees’ Trade Unions (KESK), Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), and Turkish Medical Association (TTB).
“DİSK in its statement the decision of the European Court of the Human Rights (ECtHR) that states celebrating May 1 as a right.
“DİSK has taken decision of speeding up the works to have May 1 Day of Unity-Struggle and Solidarity celebrated everywhere in Turkey from its north to south, west to east”.
DİSK also stated that the course of action will be determined by the KESK, TMMOB, and TTB to have May 1 celebrated as close to its purpose as possible.
CHP: Millions need to rally
“We will first struggle over Taksim on this May 1, however, the government on the pretext that is attacking workers, trying to close the squares to the laborers. Millions need to rally on May1 wherever they point to, if not Taksim. We want to organize a meeting in which 1 million people will participate. Our only wish is both working class celebrate the labor day, and peace call to be made in this hard circumstances of our country”. (NV/TK)
