Engin Karataş, a teacher discharged by a Statutory Decree during the State of Emergency, has organized yet another creative one-person demonstration to protest discharges and express his request for reinstatement.
Karataş has placed a group of human models side by side and "grown" his resistance with them. Karataş has said, "My resistance has grown. My union has finally supported me."
Engin Karataş, who was a primary school teacher in Bodrum, Muğla, was discharged from the school where he had been working for 13 years. Discharged by the Statutory Decree no. 675 on October 29, 2016, Karataş has been organizing creative protests at Bodrum Square to express his demand for reinstatement in his job since then.
One of the last creative protests of Karataş was the one where he wrote "I want my job back" at the square with water so that no evidence would be left behind and the police would not detain him.
Speaking to bianet, Karataş previously said, "I am thinking of protests all the time, it keeps me alive. People also look at me and get surprised all the time. Whatever we write on papers comes to mean resistance anyway." (AÖ/SD)
