Director Mustafa Altıoklar has been sentenced to 10 months of prison for defaming President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The penalty has been turned to 1,880 euros (6,000 TL) of judicial fine.
The summary judgement was held at Bakırköy 4th Criminal Court of First Instance. The trial was heard over Altıoklar defaming then Prime Minister, now President Erdoğan during Gezi resistance on a TV program.
According to the report of Hürriyet daily, the court sentenced Altıoklar to 10 months of prison, and then converted the penalty to 1,880 euros of judicial fine.
Altıoklar: I didn’t defame, but diagnosed
Altıoklar, who is also a medical doctor, had said for Erdoğan “He has personality disorder, should be given the report No. 46”. Altıoklar in his defense at the hearing had said he didn’t insult but diagnosed him as a doctor. (EA/TK)
