DİHA Reporter Selahattin Koyuncu Arrested

Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reporter Sebahattın Koyuncu, who was released in Silopi on August 26 and detained again upon prosecution’s objection has been arrested on the grounds of his reports and social media posts.

Koyuncu was detained in a house raid launched in Şırnak’s Silopi district on August 23. Koyuncu was relased by the Silopi Penal Judicatory by August 26.

Koyuncu being detained again upon Cizre Prosecution Office’s objection, has been brought to Cizre Criminal Judicatory of Peace.

Koyuncu, who was taken to Cizre Criminal Judicatory of Peace on September 1 was arrested on charges of “being member of [illegal] organization” and “[illegal] organization propaganda” for the interviews he made with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs and social media posts.

Following the verdict, Koyuncu  has been taken to Şırnak Type T Closed Prison. (EA/TK)
