DİHA Intern Correspondent Ataman Arrested

DİHA (Dicle News Agency) intern correspondent Ziya Ataman taken into custody in Van has been arrested following the hearing.

According to the report of DİHA, intern correspondent Ziya Ataman, who had been taken into custody while chasing news in Kurubaş neighbourhood in Edremit district of Van district by police has been referred to Van Court upon completion of the procedures in Provincial Security Directorate.

Referred to the court on charges of “being a member of the terrorist organization”, Ataman has given testimony to Beytüşşebap Criminal Court of Peace.

Arrested following his testimony, he has been referred to Van M-type Closed Prison on charges of “being a member of the terrorist organization”.

Ataman’s attorneys will object to the decision.

Including Ataman, the number of arrested journalists has reached 30. (EA/DG)
