Detention warrant has been issued for 14 people 12 of whom are presidential bodyguards due to the assault carried out against those who protested President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit in US capital city of Washington on May 16.
According to America’s Voice, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser and Washington Security Director Peter Newsham said that there are charges against 18 people including 12 bodyguards and detention warrant was issued for 14 of them who couldn’t be contacted yet.
Sinan Narin and Eyüp Yıldırım who were determined to assault the protest were arrested.
What happened?
The assault occurred in front of Turkey’s Ambassador to Washington Serdar Kılıç as President Erdoğan came to the residence on May 16.
Nine people were injured in the assault.
Following the incident, the ambassador was summoned to the US Department of State.
Washington police detained two people during the assault, the two were later released. (EKN/TK)
