A Silopi district court ordered Peace and Democracy Party deputy Sebahat Tuncel to pay roughly 12,000 euros for slapping a policeman at a Newroz celebration in 2011.
In March 2011, protesting the police violence exercised on peaceful protestors at Newroz celebrations, Tuncel slapped Murat Çetiner, chief police officer of Şırnak province.
Following the incident, Çetiner filed a lawsuit against deputy Tuncel in Silopi distict court.
On the 8th hearing yesterday, the court found defendant Tuncel guilty for "assaulting a public worker physically and verbally", ordering her to pay roughly 12,000 euros as non-pecuniary damages. (ÇT/BM)
