Seven political groups led by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) forming the Democracy Alliance have released a joint statement about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Turkey should not be a party to the "dangerous polarization and conflict that could ignite the third world war," the alliance said.
"Capitalism does not consider the bread and health of humanity; it is opening space for a new war in which the peoples are slaughtered for the interests of the energy and arms monopolies.
"Essentially, this reality lies behind the war and occupation that started with the escalating Ukraine-Russia tensions over Donbas. We do not support the expansionist policies of Russia or NATO led by the USA, which ignores the will of peoples.
"Peoples don't have to support one of these two centers. We are on the side of peace; we are on the side of the peoples who stand up against war all around the world."
The alliance also warned the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government, which it said has been "in conflict with neighboring peoples in cooperation with global and regional powers for a long time," that it should not be on the side of Russia or NATO.
All forces of war and occupation should withdraw from the region and the right to self-determination of the peoples of the region should be recognized, said the Democracy Alliance.
"War is the enemy of workers struggling for an equal and humane life. The biggest losers of the war will be workers, the poor, women and the youth," it said.
The Democracy Alliance is formed by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Labor Party (EMEP), Laborers' Movement Party (EHP), Federation of Socialist Assemblies (SMF), Community Centers (Halkevleri), Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) and Social Freedom Party (TÖP) (HA/VK)
