The former Co-Chair and current Presidential candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş, who was imprisoned on November 4, 2016 and is still kept in Edirne Type F Prison, posted tweets on his official Twitter account via his attorneys today (May 25).
In his tweets, Demirtaş addressed the President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as well as the Chair of Patriotic Party Doğu Perinçek, who previously announced that if he is elected as the President, he will close the HDP.
Addressing other Presidential candidates Muharrem İnce, Meral Akşener and Temel Karamollaoğlu as well, Demirtaş said, "I find your calls about me important and valuable."
"We will end unemployment"
Demirtaş started his tweet thread by stating, "We will end unemployment" and posted the following tweet:
"Good morning, friends. I wish you all a happy and peaceful day. If you have a job, then more power to you. If not, then I say to you, '1 vote to HDP, 1 vote to Demirtaş.' Because we will end unemployment."
To İnce, Akşener and Karamollaoğlu
Addressing the Presidential candidate of the main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) Muharrem İnce, the Chair and Presidential candidate of the İYİ Party Meral Akşener and the Chair and Presidential candidate of the Felicity Party (SP) Temel Karamollaoğlu, Demirtaş said,
"I find your calls about me important and valuable. If the election works are not fair and equal, then, the legitimacy of election results become controversial. You do not work in a fair environment, either. The need of our country for justice manifests itself here the most."
"Your favorite opponent forced to run his election campaign in prison..."
Demirtaş addressed the President Erdoğan with the following tweet:
"As the President, you promise justice after governing the country for 16 years. I would also like to hear your opinions as to your favorite opponent forced to run his election campaign in prison. I would be happy if you comment without forgetting the presumption of innocence."
To Perinçek: "If I get elected, I will not close the Patriotic Party"
To the Chair and Presidential candidate of the Patriotic Party Doğu Perinçek, who said that if he wins the election, he will close the HDP, Demirtaş said,
"If I get elected, I will not close the Patriotic Party. I will make it possible for all parties, including your party, to receive a fair aid from the Treasury. Also, I promise that if you win the election, we will close the HDP ourselves." (EKN/SD)
