105 intellectuals, journalists, artists, academics and writers have signed a declaration calling for the release of 13 arrested Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reporters.
The declaration is also a petition collecting signatures on change.org. Names of the arrested reporters are as follows: Nedim Oruç, Nuri Akman, Nazım Daştan,Feyyaz İmrak, Mazlum Dolan, Ziya Ataman, Meltem Oktay, Muhammed Doğru, Bilal Güldem, Mehmet Hakkı Yılmaz, Abdulkadir Turay, Nedim Türfent, Şermin Soydan.
Following phrases have been used in the declaration stating the government points all dissident circles as a target:
“Not only Turkey but the whole world knows that anyone thinking or writing different than the government become a target for Erdoğan Regime. It is desired that shall our people be conditioned on the news which this regime delivers.
“Arrest of the 13 DİHA reporters has been added to that recently. The DİHA reporters working devotedly to reflect the hard truth lived in region unlike the pool media’s unqualified propaganda policy which is a subject of joke to everyone, have been arrested over ‘[illegal] organization propaganda’ before the eyes of the whole world.
“We the callers having the signatures below are demanding that the DİHA reporters trying to deliver the news of the dirty war conducted in the region to the people be released at once.
“Furthermore, we ask Turkey’s democratic public to show solidarity for DİHA as well which they showed for well-known journalists”.
