The death toll has risen to seven in the attack launched by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members on the traffic control center on the Diyarbakır-Batman highway yesterday (August 15). Two of the killed were civilians and five of them were police officers.

The Diyarbakır Governorate in its initial statement had announced that two police officers and one child were killed in the attack, which was launched on the Martyr Security Chief Murat Uçar Area Traffic Control Station at around 1:10 p.m.
Four more people lost their lives since the statement.
46 people including seven police officers, two assistant technicians and two Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) workers were wounded in the explosion.
The governorate announced that some of the wounded were discharged and the treatment of the 16 wounded, of whom seven are police officers, is continuing.
One of those killed in the attack was 5-year-old Hüseyin Utku Gülbahar. Gülbahar’s father, police officer Ahmet Gülbahar (35) who was wounded in the attack also lost his life in the hospital where he was taken for treatment. (AS/TK)
